Ragtime has always been among the music I most love to hear and play, and this CD of "a little ragtime" contains eleven rags I have composed. I have arranged them for piano, two guitars, banjo, brass, violin, and bass, and realized them on synthesizers. Some of the tracks are in the style and mood of classic Ragtime, while others definitely are not, and throughout there are hints of classical influences.
The program includes my first composition, Fenway Rag, which I wrote when I was 12. It also includes my most recent rag, Flying Fiddle Rag, composed 30 years later in 2006. You'll find some experiments with theme and variations, perpetuum mobile, an occasional tango or rhumba, and even a bit of minimalism at the end of Flying Fiddle.
